Hi.
I have a home PC that has a wired internet router, and a laptop with no internet? Is it possible to have the internet routed to the laptop? Does anyone know any wireless routers I could buy so I could be connected to the internet on a laptop upstairs, but without being wired to the PC downstairs?
Thanks.

If you want to pay $60 per month or so, you can buy a Wireless Broadband modem for your laptop. It will be a USB dongle, you will get it from a cell phone company like Verizon or AT%26amp;T etc, and it will provide wireless internet anywhere you can get cell phone reception (in your home or abroad).
Otherwise, if you want wireless internet in your home, any wireless router you buy WILL HAVE TO BE CONNECTED BY A WIRE to the internet modem and/or router downstairs. The Wireless router needs an internet source from somewhere... it does not pull the internet out of thin air. You need to supply it with an internet connection.
Now, the good news, is that if you buy a wireless router, you can most likely REPLACE that older wired internet router, with the wireless one, since you can buy a wireless internet router with all the functions that your wired one has, plus the additional benefit of being wireless. It will have ports on the back to provide wired internet to your PC, as well as providing wireless internet for your laptop.
You can get a wireless router like that for $30 at Walmart (a Belkin http://www.walmart.com/ip/Belkin-Wireles鈥?/a> )... and that is just one example. Best Buy, Staples, Radio Shack... you can buy wireless routers almost everywhere (maybe even at your local Super Stop n Shop or Shaws Supermarket).

yeah, any of them - thats the basic function of the device.
I`m assuming you don`t have any wireless router.
Which internet provider are you with and does you laptop have a wireless card?
