How can I set up a facebook page for a business where I can add friends instead of fans?

I don't want to add fans, I want to add friends. However, Facebook will not let me make a profile using the company name. Instead I have to make a fan page which makes it much harder to connect with people. Any help is appreciated. Actually, fan pages are more successfuul in connecting with customers/people than creating a ';Person'; account. It seems odd to most people to have a business as a friend. My town has a facebook ';Person'; profile, and I was hesitant to add it at first. Once I did I only had 5 mutual friends (I have about 200 friends [on facebook] that live in my town). However, a fan page for a page that is not officially sponsored by my town has 200% more people in it than the actual account. In general, I would suggest creating a fan page. You should know that it would not completely surprise me if facebook closed the account if you made it though.
