Internet is running alot slower than usual, more pop ups, and some sites wont connect...help!?

Had Norton antivirus subs. came with laptop. It expired so I downloaded Avast free anti virus... I have slower internet than normal, more pop ups than I used to, and some sites, I can't even connect to... well first of all get rid of avast! and download AVG free. it is better than most antivirus programs that cost money, and this is free! also download firefox, wich is the best, safest, and fastest browser i have used.
first of all did u uninstall norton completely?

The most likely scenario is the free anti-virus software you have does not block spyware and adware. Do to this you have gotten this malware on you computer.





I would recommend two things. First download an antispyware program and scan for spyware that should help speed internet up and eliminate popups. Here are two very good websites for downloading some antispyware. Both have free versions as well as pay versions.

Second I would recommend you do some research and get an antivirus/antispyware suite. Yes you will probably have to pay a yearly subscription but it is like insurance. You don't like paying it but if something happens it is cheaper to have paid the insurance.
