Please put my mind at rest but someone mentioned that its better to connect the BT hub or any other hub by the main socket which is in the living room and not on a long extension. There is an extension cable to the socket I have in my bedroom and the hub is connected to that but I have not had many problems apart from the hub switch being restarted or the internet icon is not wireless all the time sometimes no internet is present but this doesnt happen so often. In my room there is no extension from the socket just the hub's wire I hope this is OK . As I rather have the hub in my room for good speed while the cable is connected from the computer to the hub because the service seems to be better when this is connected and I always use the internet in my room rather than the living room where the main socket is. I dont use the internet without the wire much . I hope this makes sense thanks.

I meant that the socket is not the main one which the hub is contected however I use a cable to the hub and I dont take the lap top anywhere else in the house it stays in my room I dont feel I need to take the laptop elsewhere. Im quite happy for it to stay in my room. The hub is not connected to the main socket because I like to keep my lap top in my room with the hub?
It's always best to connect your router direct to the incoming phone master socket. This can be say by cable up to 10m in length. But keep the cable clear of other leads especially mains cables.
An improvement can often be had by fitting a BT i-plate to the socket if is the right type. Search BT.com for more info.
