When I try to transfer my account from one mac to another it stops responding?

I just got a MacBook Pro 13-inch version and I want to transfer my account from a Mac OS X with snow leopard but when they are both connected with ethernet and they are Preparing the Information my MacBook stops responding so the other mac can not complete Preparing and transferring the information. I retried about 5 times now and each try ends with the same result. Thanks in advance! When I try to transfer my account from one mac to another it stops responding?
Emily,

There is only one way I used which is TIME MACHINE I always back up my machine %26amp; when I insert the MAC OS Snow Leopard DVD I there is an icon that looks like a CLOCK. click it

You will have many options like what exactly you want to transfer you can deselect everything except the first thing which is the USERNAME INFORMATION.

Thats it your done you have transfered your information.

%100 works tried it myslef.

Note: always backup your mac you never know when things go wrong. Believe me some crazy things happen in mac.

example: IDK how the hell this happened even discussion.apple.com were confused.

The thing that happened was that time capsule used my 200gb used bootcamp partition that I installed many software in them. It deleted the entire hardisk %26amp; used it as a back up!!! ';WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION OR NOTIFICATION';!!!!!!

anyways good luck. When I try to transfer my account from one mac to another it stops responding?
The job of Time Machine is to make backup copies of your system that can be used to restore THE SAME SYSTEM. It is not intended to be used to clone anything from one Mac to another.

You didn't explain clearly what you want to do, but I will try to guess. What is ';transfer account';? Do you mean that you want to copy a user account folder from one Mac to another? That would be wrong. You could create big problems with the netinfo database (the hidden UNIX software that keeps track of changes to the user accounts). Here is the correct way to accomplish this:

Look at the account names (full and short) of both computers in System Preferences %26gt; Accounts. If there is any difference in either the full name of your user or the home folder name (a.k.a. ';shortname';), you should create a new account on the target Mac that matches exactly the full name and shortname of the account on the original Mac. NOTE: If there is an account on both systems with the same shortname but different full names, you need to create a fresh account that is unique in both full and short name. {{Don't worry if it isn't an account you will cherish forever. When all the transferring is done, you can delete the new account in System Preferences %26gt; Accounts, and choose the option (automatic in OS 10.4.11 or earlier) to save the account data in a disk image. That takes the account out of the netinfo database and applies ownership and permissions of all the disk image data to your logged in admin user.}} Next, copy all interior folders or files that you want to the target Mac user folder. Finally, repair permissions in Disk Utility.
