every time i want to click on something on my laptop, be it system tools, files, connect to internet etc., or open an internet browsing page, i keep getting a pop up box that says ';open with'; and it asks me to choose from list.... i have to press the cancel key to get rid of this box and to continue, but by doing so, sometimes this cancels what i want to open!! how do i disable this or reset all my defaults for opening easily??My laptop has started to ask me to 'open with' to select an appropriate programme?
Maybe got attacted by some unknown virus or trojans, try some anti-virus software to make a full scan of your system, then reboot to see if it has been solved...good luck!My laptop has started to ask me to 'open with' to select an appropriate programme?
Go ask for help

reboot comp....
Well, you can run Start+R and write MSCONFIG. On the fourth tab, you can look the programs that istarts with Windows. Find a different program and stop it!
But I advice a restore sistem!
right click on the file u want to open, select open with and choose a default program from the list of available programs..before u select the program remember to tick the option';always use the selected program to open this kind of file..';
if u dont tick this option..the open with box pops up every time u open it until u choose an appropriate program to open with..
good luck..:)
it will often say this if your computer cannot find or your computer doesnt have the software to open the file. if you know your computer has the software do what i say below.
Go to the folder where the file is and right click it. then go open with then go to the bottom and click ';choose program'; then click on the program you would like to open it with (DON'T CLICK OK) and near the bottom of the box there is a tick box which should say ';always use the selected program for this type of file'; then click ok. keep doing this if it does it to other programs it should stop opening the internet.
Good Luck :)
Your exe file association got messed up (usually by a virus). Microsoft has a way of fixing it - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950505
